Niagara Falls, THANK YOU

As a document of our first road trip together <3 “Niagara Falls, THANK YOU” represents a convergence of our ways of working, our memories, and our experiences of witnessing a solar eclipse in April 2024.

It was also created with a desire to see how we ascribe meaning to memory. There are many ways to relive a memory; people take things from a moment that slip from the synapses of others.

In broaching that idea, we took pieces from each other to interpret the trip in a way that becomes physically ours. The pages are largely cut, glued, and hemmed together by hand using found objects, handwritten notes, and other ephemera from our visit to the Falls. We worked side-by-side but separately to make this portrait of our trip that was remarkable in how individual the act of remembering is. Our memories exist on opposite pages, touching each other as the pages fold.
